Farmers and farmworkers are critical to the future of the food sector. Climate change, as well as efforts to lower emissions from food production, have the potential to exacerbate existing vulnerabilities and inequalities among farmers and farmworkers, creating material business risks for food companies. A new resource from Ceres—Climate Transition Plans in the U.S. Food Sector: Addressing Risks to Farmers and Farmworkers—describes what companies can do to ensure that health, safety, and livelihoods are safeguarded in the transition to a more resilient and lower emissions future.
In this session, participants will:
Understand why the just transition is a two-fold issue for the food sector
Recognize how risks to farmers and farmworkers are business risks within corporate supply chains
Analyze how food companies can address risks to farmers and farmworkers in their climate transition plans
