Our third-annual edition of the Guidebook showcases memos supporting shareholder proposals filed by institutional investors during the 2020 U.S. proxy season. Each memo underscores the risks and opportunities posed by climate change and makes the business case for voting “For” the respective shareholder proposal.
The memos offered here cover a sampling of the 131 shareholder proposals filed to date on climate change-related topics; we expect 70 of these proposals to go to a vote. As this Guidebook shows, climate-related topics raised by investors this season include lobbying disclosure, carbon asset risk, board oversight, greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals, sustainable agriculture, deforestation, clean energy and transportation, and more.
It is our hope that this Guidebook serves as a helpful resource for investors as they make decisions about voting on these specific proposals and similar proposals filed with other companies.
