Ceres applauds the public support for preserving the clean energy tax credits in the Inflation Reduction Act from 18 Republican members of Congress led by Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-NY), who made their case in a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson today.
“The Inflation Reduction Act’s federal incentives have sparked a boom in the manufacturing and deployment of affordable, reliable, American-made clean energy that is benefiting communities across the country,” said Zach Friedman, senior director of federal policy, Ceres. “As the IRA unlocks hundreds of billions of dollars in new private-sector investment, American businesses need policy certainty to maintain this momentum, and we are grateful for the bipartisan support to keep these tax credits in place. The IRA’s energy policies are achieving key bipartisan priorities – restoring American manufacturing and jobs; strengthening U.S. supply chains, energy security, and global competitiveness; reducing our reliance on foreign adversaries; and saving money for American businesses and families.”
Ceres has worked for years to organize business support for the clean energy provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act. Throughout 2024, including at its flagship advocacy event LEAD on a Clean Economy 2024, Ceres has mobilized leading companies and investors to meet with members of Congress from both parties to discuss the ways the law is benefitting local economies across the U.S.
