Karen joined Ceres in 2013 as a member of the Development team, working to identify funding needs, articulate success stories, and develop compelling cases for funder support. In her current role, she works with organizational leadership to ensure that Ceres’ strategic and annual planning processes strengthen and scale its efforts to build a sustainable future for people and the planet. Through her work in Development and later Planning and Evaluation, she has helped the organization triple in size over the past decade.
Prior to joining Ceres, Karen worked to protect and restore land and water resources in New Jersey and Massachusetts with the Great Swamp Watershed Association, the Waltham Land Trust, and the Charles River Conservancy. In addition, she served as the Director of Board Relations for the Woodwell Climate Research Center from June 2022 through June 2023.
She holds an undergraduate degree in Geography from Clark University, a Master's in Geography from Virginia Tech, and a Master's in Public Policy from Tufts University. Karen currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Clark University. In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors with her husband and two sons and their Labrador Retrievers Bella and Jersey.
