There is significant momentum among the largest U.S. investors and financial institutions committing to ambitious net-zero emissions goals. As the lynchpin of the global economy, finance has an essential role to play in tackling the climate crisis and scaling up clean energy jobs and economic opportunities. The U.S.-based sustainability nonprofit Ceres is hosting a special event ahead of the Leaders Summit on Climate for expected announcements of new climate commitments in the U.S. finance sector and to lay out the necessary action steps to achieving net-zero ambition including adopting a strong national greenhouse gas emissions target and implementing climate action plans.
For three decades, Ceres has been catalyzing bold climate action across the U.S. public and private finance sector. Through the Ceres Accelerator for Sustainable Capital Markets and new global collaborations, including the Paris Aligned Investment Initiative and the Net Zero Asset Managers initiative, Ceres has helped mobilize the largest U.S. banks and the largest U.S-based asset managers and asset owners to make new net-zero commitments and improve their climate-related financial disclosures.
Ceres organized more than 300 businesses and investors just last week in calling on the U.S. administration to support an ambitious national emissions target and other policy and regulatory actions that will speed up the net-zero transformation at scale.
During this special event, speakers will highlight:
The role of U.S. finance in building back a more resilient economy and just and sustainable net-zero future.
New participation among the largest asset managers and owners in global investor collaborations driving the net-zero transition.
Key action steps investors and banks must take to deliver on their net-zero commitments and implement their climate action plans.
The U.S. policy and regulatory climate solutions needed to drive wholesale change and protect the long-term stability of the financial system.
